I'm a Class II off for the season and I'm looking into getting an armed security position but I can't find much info on how to go about it. Would it be easier to get the licensing or whatever it is because I'm a Class II? Do these armed guards even need to qualify with their weapons?

Why armed security? Their are many much better paying jobs out there to have in the meantime.  If anything armed security puts you at more of a liability for being involved in something that could down the road hurt your chances of becoming a regular officer.
Plus why risk coming off as a buff? I'm not saying that's what you are, nor would I call most security officers that, but it still could arise at future interviews.

And for the most part, NJ doesn't have many armed security positions. Look into armored car if you're interested.  But once again i'd suggest looking into better paying jobs that won't put you in a position to risk future law enforcement employment.

Internal intelligence has armed and unarmed positions.  They range from "patrolling" the parking lots of applebees to one of them I met who has an armed security post at a housing project in newark.
